Configuring Agent Operations

Configure the AGENT Chat, AGENT Chat Streaming (SSE), AGENT Define Prompt Template, AGENT Get by ID, and AGENT List operations.

Configure the AGENT Chat Operation

The AGENT Chat operation is essential for chatting with prepared Amazon Bedrock agents. These agents are built with a defined purpose and have tools (Action Groups) defined to perform API calling to fulfill user needs.

To configure the AGENT Chat operation:

  1. Select the operation on the Anypoint Code Builder or Studio canvas.

  2. In the General properties tab for the operation, enter these values:

    • Agent Id

      The agent ID (for example, WFK8E3DFKD).

    • Agent alias id

      The agent alias ID (for example, TSTALIASID).

    • Prompt

      The user’s prompt for the agent.

    • Session Id

      The session ID for maintaining conversation context.

    • Knowledge Bases

      The knowledge base configurations for retrieval-augmented generation.

Configure the AGENT Chat Streaming (SSE) Operation

The AGENT Chat Streaming (SSE) operation is similar to the AGENT Chat operation but uses Server-Sent Events (SSE) for streaming responses. This enables real-time streaming of responses from Amazon Bedrock agents, providing a more interactive experience for chat applications.

To configure the AGENT Chat Streaming (SSE) operation:

  1. Select the operation on the Anypoint Code Builder or Studio canvas.

  2. In the General properties tab for the operation, enter these values:

    • Agent Id

      The agent ID (for example, WFK8E3DFKD).

    • Agent alias id

      The agent alias ID (for example, TSTALIASID).

    • Prompt

      The user’s prompt for the agent.

    • Enable Trace

      Whether to enable tracing for the operation. Defaults to false.

    • Latency Optimized

      Whether to optimize for latency. Defaults to false.

    • Session Id

      The session ID for maintaining conversation context.

    • Knowledge Bases

      The knowledge base configurations for retrieval-augmented generation.

Output Configuration

This operation streams the response using Server-Sent Events (SSE). The response is delivered incrementally as the agent generates it, allowing for real-time display of the response in chat applications.

Configure the AGENT Define Prompt Template Operation

The AGENT Define Prompt Template operation is essential for configuring specific prompt templates with the LLM of your choice. This operation allows you to define and compose AI functions using plain text, enabling the creation of natural language prompts, generating responses, extracting information, invoking other prompts, or performing any text-based task.

Apply the AGENT Define Prompt Template operation in various scenarios, such as for:

  • Customer Service Agents

    Enhance customer service by providing case summaries, case classifications, summarizing large datasets, and more.

  • Sales Operation Agents

    Aid sales teams in writing sales emails, summarizing cases for specific accounts, assessing the probability of closing deals, and more.

  • Marketing Agents

    Assist marketing teams in generating product descriptions, creating newsletters, planning social media campaigns, and more.

To configure the AGENT Define Prompt Template operation:

  1. Select the operation on the Anypoint Code Builder or Studio canvas.

  2. In the General properties tab for the operation, enter these values:

    • Template

      Contains the prompt template for the operation.

    • Instructions

      Provides instructions for the LLM and outlines the goals of the task.

    • Dataset

      Specifies the dataset to be evaluated by the LLM using the provided template and instructions.

    • Model name

      The name of the LLM. You can select any model from the supported LLM Providers.

    • Region

      The AWS region.

    • Temperature

      A value between 0 and 1 that regulates the creativity of LLMs' responses. Use lower temperature if you want more deterministic responses, and use higher temperature if you want more creative or different responses for the same prompt from LLMs on Amazon Bedrock. The current default value is 0.7.

    • Top p

      The percentage of most-likely candidates that the model considers for the next token. It typically ranges between 0.9 and 0.95. Refer to the model provider documentation to confirm whether this parameter is supported and to verify the appropriate acceptable range.

    • Top k

      The number of most-likely candidates that the model considers for the next token. It typically ranges between 0.4 and 0.6. Refer to the model provider documentation to confirm whether this parameter is supported and to verify the appropriate acceptable range.

    • Max token count

      The maximum number of tokens to consume during output generation. For consistent and predictable responses, it is recommended to explicitly configure maxTokens based on the model’s supported limits and expected output size.

    The reason why the model stopped generating the response.

    The type of the operation.

Configure the AGENT Get by ID Operation

The AGENT Get by ID operation fetches the details of an agent using its ID.

To configure the AGENT Get by ID operation:

  1. Select the operation on the Anypoint Code Builder or Studio canvas.

  2. In the General properties tab for the operation, enter these values:

    • Agent Id

      The ID of the agent.

  • agentId: The unique identifier for the agent, for example, L831RAJIHX.

  • agentResourceRoleArn: The Amazon Resource Name (ARN) for the IAM role.

  • promptOverrideConfiguration: The prompt override configuration for the agent.

  • clientToken: The client token for the agent.

  • instruction: The instructions for the agent.

  • foundationModel: The foundation model for the agent.

  • agentName: The name of the agent.

  • agentArn: The Amazon Resource Name (ARN) for the agent.

  • idleSessionTTLInSeconds: The session timeout in seconds, for example, 600 seconds is 10 minutes of inactivity.
